Carbon content determines toughness air and abrasion manifold resistance--as braas carbon rises, air abrasion resistance increases and toughness drops. Chromium forms manifold carbides, increases corrosion resistance, and adds high-temperature strength. braas Tungsten, a potent carbide former, also boosts high temperature air strength, as does cobalt.
